Bob's method is the most fool proof and is the method I have always used for both solid and hydraulic adjustments. The reason the book method may not give you an acceptable result is that performance cams generally have a late closing intake valve. This means that the lifter will probably not be on the cam's base circle on the compression stroke unless you're assured the piston is near top dead center. If you use Bob's method, you eliminate this possibility. |
