The 410 FE was used as the standard engine in the Mercury Parklane. It used standard 390 block, heads, rods, intake etc, with a standard 428 crank and 410-specific cast pistons. It was not a Hipo engine, but rather a smoot, torqey powerplant that made the Parklane a bit more special than a similar Ford, or lesser Merc, but did so without the lower production (and I assume costlier) 428 block. These days, the 410 is a great source of a 428 crank, but it will respond nicely to any mods you might want to make to a 390 and make more torque. If you find one cheap, don't pass it up. The crank, flexplate and damper are valuable as a set. The rest of the engine is just regular. |
